With Morten B. Seaton's experience in eyewear retail and Mai-britt B. Seaton's background in the fashion industry, MonkeyGlasses was born out of a shared passion for sustainability. Inspired by the increasing focus on eco-consciousness in fashion, the duo set out to create a concept that integrated sustainability not only in the materials but also in their actions as a company. The result is a unique eyewear brand that combines modern design, quality, durability, and social and environmental responsibility.

MonkeyGlasses stands out from other eyewear brands with its commitment to sustainability. The designers have taken a biodegradable acetate made of cotton fibers and wood pulp and transformed it into stylish and durable frames. This material is not only eco-friendly but also flexible and water-resistant, ensuring that the eyewear can withstand everyday use.

What sets MonkeyGlasses apart is their holistic approach to sustainability. In addition to using biodegradable materials, the brand supports the charity organization Save the Orangutan by donating a percentage of each frame sold. Customers are also encouraged to hand in their old MonkeyGlasses, which are then given to the charity organization S.I.S.P. This allows the brand to fully utilize the potential of their products and bring joy to others.

Furthermore, MonkeyGlasses has implemented a Zero Waste program, where surplus materials from the production of their frames are upcycled into accessories and jewelry. This innovative initiative not only reduces waste but also adds value to their products, creating a circular economy.

Since its inception in August 2010 in Copenhagen, Denmark, MonkeyGlasses has continuously evolved its environmental thinking. The brand's commitment to sustainability is evident in their collaboration with suitable suppliers, producers, and charity organizations. They constantly challenge themselves to find new ways to be more sustainable and manage a responsible brand.

In 2016, MonkeyGlasses received the Silver A' Sustainable Products, Projects, and Green Design Award.
